Nature Stall
Made for the 2025 Colorado Creative Industries Summit
2025
In the heart of a bustling CCI event, I designed a three-walled immersive stall to offer attendees a restorative pause—an escape into a nature-inspired retreat built to recharge the mind and spark creative thinking. Drawing from the idea that our best insights often arise during walks in nature, the space invites participants to step into a calming, sensory-rich environment thoughtfully crafted to balance solitude with the social hum of the event around it.
The design integrates scenic visuals, ambient soundscapes, and natural aromas to create a fully immersive experience. Each piece of art within the space is intentionally paired with a dedicated track on an iPod, like the soothing call of a red-winged blackbird layered over the gentle rush of a nearby river. A small, curated library of nature sounds allows visitors to explore different moods and environments, deepening their connection with the space.
To minimize distraction and maintain a tranquil atmosphere, the structure uses sandwiched foam between layers of wood, dampening external noise and enhancing the sense of stillness. Within the space, visitors find blank paper for jotting down fresh ideas, a tactile invitation to reflect and ideate. Mindful prompts offer gentle guidance for those seeking a deeper sense of calm, and scent-dipped paper strips engage the olfactory system, adding another dimension to the meditative experience.
Ultimately, the stall offers more than a moment of escape—it serves as a reset button for the mind. In a world that rarely slows down, this immersive installation proves that a brief return to nature, even simulated, can reignite inspiration, foster meaningful thought, and cultivate creative breakthroughs.
